Full Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival to Jro, meet your professional Safari Guide and Driver,  who would transfer you to Mt. village Serena Lodge (or another lodge of the same standard depending on availability)for Dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Depart for Arusha National Park for  first morning game viewing, the park is about half hour away. Arusha National Park is a multi-faceted jewel, often overlooked by safari goers, despite offering the opportunity to explore a beguiling diversity of habitats within a few hours. The entrance gate leads into shadowy montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen. In the afternoon we head back to the Lodge for afternoon leisure and Overnight.

Day 3

After breakfast you are off to Tarangire National Park about 1 Hour and 30 minutes away. The Major attraction of this park is elephants and unique landscape, during the dry season thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire National Park from Manyara National Park. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

Dinner and overnight will be at Maromboi Luxury Tented Lodge.

Day 4

A full day of Game drives in Tarangire National park to see any sightings we missed the other Day. More ardent bird-lovers might keep an eye open for screeching flocks of the dazzlingly colorful yellow-collared lovebird, and the somewhat drabber Rufus-tailed weaver and ashy starling – all endemic to the dry Savannah of north-central Tanzania.Disused termite mounds are often frequented by colonies of the endearing dwarf mongoose, and pairs of red-and-yellow barbet, which draw attention to themselves by their loud, clockwork-like duetting.  You get back to the lodge late afternoon for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5

After breakfast we are off to Manyara National Park about 1hr away.  We plan to have our lunch within Lake Manyara Park. Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks. The park is also known for tree climbing lions.  In late afternoon we get back to the Lodge for Leisure Dinner and overnight.

Day 6

This morning we leave by 7:00am, with box lunch to the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro crater rim. We got a full day ahead of us as there is a lot to see and do. With a plan to arrive to the lodge as late as 6:00pm unless opt otherwise. From the Rim of the Great Rift Valley to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater is 1.5 hours, with a 20 minutes stop at the Ngorongoro entry gate to use the bathroom and see the museum as your driver guide do the paperwork to verify the prepaid park fees. From this point to the crater view point is 15 minutes. We will stop for few minutes on the rim of the crater prior to proceeding to the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Katitkati Camp.

Day 7

This morning you have an option of going out whole day with box lunch, or doing early morning and later evening game viewing with 2 hours and a half each game viewing and have a day at Leisure or leaving by 7am after breakfast and coming back for Lunch at 12:30am and leisure afternoon and out again by 4:00pm for a two and half hour drive.  your choice would be determined by the location of the great migration and the associated cats,  the great migration is influenced by distribution of food and water/rains.  Possible highlights while in Central Serengeti would be a great migrations, lions, leopard, hippos etc, all meals and accommodation at Serengeti Katikati Camp

Day 8

Today after early breakfast you will head to the Ngorongoro crater rim, your driver will take you via the scenic Maasai kopjes and through “villimasaba” which translate seven hills, and this is indeed a path less travelled with so much to learn and discover. Seeing Lions resting on kopjes like in pride rocks would be a bonus and cheetah brothers on their hunting mission or mom and babies resting on termites mounts. These are but a few of the past encounters of our safaris on this scenic route. We plan to arrive to Naabi check in gate to Ngorongoro conservation area in time for Lunch. While this is a three hours route we plan to take up to five hours as there is so much to see on the way. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Day 9

Today we plan to have a very early breakfast at 6:00am and try to leave as early as 6:30am for the crater tour. It would take you about 45 minutes into the floor of the crater.

Our mission in the Ngorongoro crater would be to wind up the list of the big 5 by finding the Rhino. (The endangered one) , whose horn is believed to make an aphrodisiac. We got over 30 of them in the crater and we believe that we would see one at least). The crater  besides having the big five it also has a highest density of animals per square miles on earth. Is also a place to take close shots of the animals since they are used to cars and would absolutely ignore your presence!

Dinner and overnight back at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

Day 10

This Morning after breakfast by 8:00pm you head to Arusha, you arrive to Shanga River House for Lunch. It is an interesting beautiful place that we picked as the best place for hot lunch. After Lunch you  got a chance to shop for souvenirs at Cultural Heritage before driving to Jro for your flight or to the hotel depending on your schedule or if you have booked an extension program to Zanzibar and Mafia Islands
